In a recent late night outing to The Porterhouse Bar & Grill in Sunny Isles I found nothing more than smoke and mirrors. The outside patio area was nicely set up and it seemed to portray a hip underground place to hang out and get a bite to eat during the late night hours. However, the wait staff and management were attentively rude and the food was nothing to call home about. The main grievance that I had was the massive amounts of smoke inside of the restaurant. Smoking was being allowed in the restaurant by the management despite several no smoking signs and food being served. Surprisingly enough the manager himself was smoking while inside of the kitchen!
I inquired with the manager on duty whether or not smoking was allowed since there were no smoking signs on the front door of the restaurant and a large amount of food was being served at the time we were there. My party alone consisted of 20 people and each person ordered a meal. The four or five other tables in the restaurant also had food served to their tables while there were only three people at the bar solely drinking. After I got my answer he decided to act out his authority and lit up a cigarette while standing next to our table. It seemed like it was more out of spite for inquiring about smoking than it was to get his fix. He then proceeded to casually walk in and out the kitchen with his cigarette still burning, we could even see him smoking it while standing just behind the kitchen doors! The staff was also smoking before serving drinks (the bartender) and also prior to setting the tables and serving food (servers). I feel this is very unsanitary and utterly disgusting, not to mention that Florida statues prohibit smoking in establishments where food is being served.
Pregnant or not I would steer clear of this place. Those extra little specs on top of your food just might not be black pepper.
